Packing for Vacation

I am supposed to be packing for our family vacation, but I am playing hooky and updating my blog instead. My usual tasks:

Pack my suitcase
Pack the kids' suitcase
Pack the food (we are renting a cabin for the week)
Pack the toy bags for the kids
Pack my toy bag
Pack the first aid kit
Plan pit stops for the trip to our destination (I try to pack a lunch and we stop at a city playground along the way)
Pack lunch
Make arrangements for the cat to be looked after
Straighten up the house before we leave

My husband's tasks:

Pack his suitcase
Pack his toy bag
Load the SUV

A little lopsided, don't you think? This time I have put him in charge of straightening up the house and packing the kids' toy bags. He also put some of the food, which was laid out on the counter, in a laundry basket to take. I still need to add some things as well as pack the cooler.

Why is it that women are always in charge of the packing? At least that is how it usually is in this house.
